About Me

My name is Julie.
I am a first-time momma residing in the suburbs with my husband (whom I refer to as The Hubs), my sweet baby girl (the star of this blog), and our dachshund, Oscar. Hubs and I met in 2002, got married in 2007, and had Hailey in 2009.
In my former life, I was a school counselor. I have Bachelors and Masters degrees.
In my current life, I am a stay-at-home momma. I keep my mind busy writing on this blog and writing product reviews. This blog began as a virtual diary to chronicle my life as a new home owner and then as a pregnant woman. In late 2009, I went public as I decided that my daughter was too adorable to be concealed behind a password (that being said, the "photos" section of this site is still PW protected).
In my future life, I will have a creative at-home business. Don't ask me what that will be…I haven't gotten there just yet. In my dreams, we will also build a custom home. My dreams usually do come true, you should know.
Random things about me?
I taught myself HTML when I was 12. I was in a travel version of The Nutcracker. I competitively danced as a child. I was Sandra Dee in the 8th grade. I sang much better then than I do now. Sadly. Or maybe I thought I did? I studied "almost abroad" in Hawaii. I hate todo the cleaning but love it when it is clean (same thing with organizing). I would be an interior designer if I could skip the certifications and degrees and had the extra money around to stage areas the way I would want. I was born to have at least one daughter. I can't stand cheap toilet paper. I can justify almost anything I do. I will fight and I will win. My husband is the only one who doesn't let me win, however. I probably need that. Maybe. I'm a fan of reality television. I want to go see Ellen and Oprah. I can play poker (and I'm good). I folded a pair of Aces at a casino. I was in for $60. The person across for me? $3000. I was scared. I folded. I still kick myself for it. I get annoyed when people incorrectly use the words your and you're; their/there/they're; its and it's, etc.  I love to shop. I have an eye for nice things. I love shell fish. And wine. And Baileys (I should probably change the subject about now).
What is funny about me?
I am originally from outside of Boston, MA (not the funny part). It was not until I was 22 that I found out that the word caribiner (as in the clip that you use to use to rock climb…or put your keys on) had an "er" at the end. I thought it was caibinah. Legitimately. I also thought caterpillar was catahpillar. These are things you just don't know unless you read the word. How often do you read those words? Ok, I probably should have known caterpillar.
So that's it...
