Playroom Progress {Part 2}

December 30, 2010

You probably thought I wasn't going to follow through on the playroom (either in posting a follow-up or in general), but my desire to reclaim my living room is too great. A new rug to replace the BC rug (aka Before Child aka off-white in color) and my new media center is a good start. The overnight part of the playroom has been cleaning and organizing.

This is the "before" video if you're interested. I made it for my sister last week (she's really the organizing queen and needs before and after pictures of things). And truth be told, this is not really even "before". This is before anything playroom related made it into the office, but after the futon was moved around and her jumperoo and boxes from toys were broken down and cleaned out of the space.

We have these Expedit shelves and desk from Ikea in our office. Except this picture isn't my office. This is just an example of what it could look like. It definitely inspires me, though. Baby steps...

Our shelves are set up just like this though. We also have a futon to the left of these shelves.

Neither of those items can leave said office turned playroom. The simply will have no other home, otherwise.

So I am working around them.  ::ROAR!!!:: ok I'm back… ::breathe..::

I have ordered some things that require this playroom to be "in progress" for a few more weeks. So far we have a space for toys and that is huge progress.

You can really see how narrow our space is here. Hailey is learning not to pull up these floor tiles. She saw me put them together and that was clearly a mistake because now she knows they can come apart. She's getting it…maybe..
And for a cute little touch:

It is slow progress. We are not painting or doing any construction on this room, so it's really not going to be any major makeover. Part 3 coming soon...
